Upper BACk Pain & NECK Pain

Most upper back pain and neck pain is caused by a combination of factors including poor posture, injury, stress, chiropractic subluxations, and in some instances, disc problems. Most people don’t realize how much they move their neck throughout the day until they are unable to. The degree of flexibility of the neck, paired with the fact that it has to support and move your 10-12 pound head and it has the least amount of muscular stabilization, means the neck is very susceptible to injury. Lower-BACK PAIn

The low back is capable of withstanding tremendous forces without injury. However, if the low back is out of alignment or has weakened supporting muscles, something as simple as bending down to pick something up can result in a low back injury. 80% of people suffer from back pain at some point in their lives, but just because it is common doesn’t mean you should live with it.

The low back’s susceptibility to pain and injury is because, like the neck, the low back is a very unstable part of the spine. This instability allows a great deal of mobility so we can do things like touch our toes, pick things up from the ground, and tie our shoes but it comes at the cost of increased risk of injury.

The body does have an incredible ability to heal itself, but back pain is one of those things that just won’t necessarily heal on its own. Studies show that when back pain is left untreated, it may go away temporarily, but will most likely return. Take low back pain seriously and seek professional treatment with the chiropractors at Somerset Hills Chiropractic.
