Chiropractic Care Helps Reduce Healthcare Costs
Healthcare is expensive. For people who don’t have insurance, don’t qualify for Medicaid or are not financially buoyant to pay their hospital bills, falling sick with a major health problem can seem like a death sentence. But things should not be that bad if it were not for the galloping increase of healthcare cost.
The only viable option to stay healthy and live a quality life while trying to seek alternative treatments. Fortunately, common knowledge and scientific research shows that chiropractic care might be a more affordable alternative that is effective and dependable. If you live in America and paying your health bills is becoming an issue, consider chiropractic care.
According to a seven-year study, researchers say chiropractic care is an effective strategy for reducing overall healthcare bills. By going for regular chiropractic adjustments, Americans can improve and manage health conditions at relatively low cost compared to conventional healthcare. The study involved over 70,000 patients, and the researchers found that chiropractic produced the following results:
It reduced hospital admissions by 60.2%
Reduced hospital days by 59%
Lowered outpatient surgeries and procedures by 62%
Reduced pharmaceutical costs by 85% compared to conventional medicine.
The researchers concluded that chiropractic care is an affordable and 100% natural alternative for improving healthcare and lowering cost of accessing health services.
Another study compared the healthcare cost of patients who treated common neuro-musculoskeletal disorders using chiropractic care with those who used medical and osteopathic healthcare professionals.
The study relied on 2 years of retrospective statistical analysis that looked at insurance payments made by 395,641 patients from all over the country. The researchers found that patients who received chiropractic care paid significantly lower healthcare costs (savings over $1000) compared to patients who didn’t use chiropractic care. This was because patients who received chiropractic treatment used less inpatient treatment, which is one of the most expensive procedures in conventional medicine.
In their conclusion, the researchers said “Although work is in progress to control for total variations in case mix and to compare outcomes in addition to costs, these preliminary results suggest a significant cost-saving potential for users of chiropractic care. The results also suggest the need to reexamine insurance practices and programs that restrict chiropractic coverage relative to medical coverage.”
Chiropractic care has been used for a long time to improve several health conditions including pain management, high blood pressure, posture defects, neural disorders, immunity and more. Studies continue to find out the many benefits of chiropractic care as a safe, natural, affordable and effective alternative to conventional healthcare.
