Leo F. Buscaglia once said "The person who risks nothing, does nothing… and becomes nothing… one simply cannot learn and feel and change and grow and love and live." It is true that one decision can impact one's life in an unexpected way. I stumbled across such a decision on November 10, 2011. I was bearing tremendous back pain and had been enduring it for a longer than I could remember. I began to take back pain as "normal", living with scoliosis and a back that never really felt "normal". It was on that sunny Thursday morning that I "barely" walked into Somerset Hills Chiropractic… but thankfully I did and I received a special kind of care.
Prior to beginning treatment at Somerset Hills Chiropractic, I had been visiting a local physical therapy center. It had been a few weeks of receiving therapy for an hour, four times a week and I felt worse than before. I was told it would take a long time to get my back in shape and that I would have to endure the pain to see the results. I endured the pain, but could only do this for so long. Finally, I made the decision to stop going to therapy. I know there had to be another option. I had heard of chiropractic care but the word chiropractor always made me "concerned". You either met people that loved chiropractors or who thought they were incapable compared to medical doctors… only black or white responses.
During the early days of November I started experiencing muscle spasms, unlike I had ever felt before. They would start at the bottom of my spine and run up and down continuously… contracting involuntarily, suddenly tightening and knotting and just locking up my back. I knew I needed to do something but what to do?
The positive results of the chiropractic care at Somerset Hills Chiropractic are immeasurable. My back started feeling better after my first visit. Dr. William Wallace looked at me and said, "I will take care of you as if you were my daughter." I can honestly say he has treated me as such (and kept his promise) everyday, since day one. Dr. Wallace's son, Dr. Brian is very much like his father. There is so much positive energy in his voice and in his care. Last but not least, Dr. Eigenmann greets you with a smile every time. His famous words, "rest, relax, and enjoy the view" never ceases to make me smile. This team loves what they do and they make you feel like you are the only patient that matters to them.
My quality of life has certainly improved since visiting Somerset Hills Chiropractic. I have learned new stretching techniques, the importance of having a balanced diet and drinking plenty of water (which will continue to be a work in progress!) and the impact of positive energy. Outlook is truly everything. The results from receiving care have come at a quicker rate than I expected. While mild flare-ups do occur and are said to be expected, the healing process is well underway. I am determined to make the philosophies outlined by Somerset Hills Chiropractic a constant part of my life. The journey has begun, as I continue the climb to improved health.
Thanks for everything,
